Symbiosis

"Symbiosis" brings awareness to the man-made cultivation of fruit around the world and its often overlooked effect on animal consumers. I placed each animal-fruit partnership over their home continents on a world map to tie each symbiotic relationship to accurate real-world locations.
In South America, kinkajous will eat mangoes that are grown as a staple crop and have spread beyond the fields; in North America, songbirds such as mockingbirds enjoy the nutrients found in oranges; in Africa, jackals will raid watermelon crops for a juicy treat; throughout Eurasia, deer will snatch pears from their trees in the wilderness and gardens alike; and in Australia, omnivorous skinks eat native raspberries as a crucial part of their diet. “Symbiosis” reminds viewers to acknowledge and respect the value that accessible fruit has on the animal kingdom, beyond the human race, while also encouraging the spread of fruit in a positive and inclusive manner.
